Navigating the Vision

Amelia Community Church recently held its first ever Impact Celebration, in which we celebrated our first anniversary as a church. During the course of the evening, we looked back at all of the amazing things that God had done through ACC in its first year to make an impact for His kingdom.

Here are a few of the victories that we shared:

• ACC averaged over 100 in attendance for the first year. According to the Center for Missional Research (NAMB), the average attendance of new churches across all denominations, after four years, is between 80-90. Two weeks ago, we had our second highest attendance since launching.

• During the course of the year we have seen several give their lives to Christ, and many others who renewed their relationship with Him and the church.

• We planted seeds in the hearts of many.

• We have been involved in our community. One person described our church as a church of “doers”.

• In November, during a message on sacrificial giving, we saw most everyone in attendance give the very coat off of their backs as an offering, to help those in need in Amelia. It was freezing and raining that day.

• We helped provide Christmas to a local family in need.

• Several in our church have led initiatives to serve in our community by collecting coats, food, and school supplies and giving them away.

• We recently launched several Journey Groups and currently 50% of our church is plugged into a small group, which is well above average.

• Approximately 25% of our Sunday attendance consists of children between birth and 5th grade. This indicates that we are reaching our key demographic of young families. One person said the reason they came to ACC is the emphasis that we put on providing a solid Children’s ministry.

• Many at the Impact Celebration said that the reason they came to ACC was because someone else invited them. Doesn’t sound like much, but to a pastor that means people are catching the vision and mission of the church.

On behalf of Amelia Community Church, I would like to thank each of you who have supported us…in serving with us, praying for us, and giving financially to the work in Amelia. God bless you.

I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us in the future.

Tommy,
We are so proud of you and your leadership at ACC. I know it's really hard at times, but it is worth the price. People will live fulfilling, joyful lives here on earth and spend eternity in heaven because of the work that you are doing there in Amelia. Your folks are rallying around the cause, and it's really good to see.

We're glad to hear that great things are happening!

Hey Chris! When you gauge your effectiveness as a new church, it is easy to hold yourself up against a successful existing church. Especially churches like New Spring, that you really admire. That can oftentimes be discouraging...I know. You see the long road ahead and you feel behind. While keeping those things in sight, I have learned that it is important to also keep things in perspective. Check out Ed Stetzer's website http://www.newchurches.com and under "tools and resources" click on "research". The website is a great tool for church planters. I am praying for you guys and am enjoying hearing of all God is doing through Elevate.
